This has been a running joke on SRL for some time now. The Lakers dominance in the West over the last 3 years with 3 straight Finals appearances has been quite a run. Playing almost an entire extra season of games throughout this incredible stretch has worn the Lakers down to the tune of being swept out of the Playoffs by the Dallas Mavericks. The OKC Thunder on the other hand after taking the Lakers to the brink last year, have had to “Thunder Up” just to get out of their series alive in 7 games with a triple overtime game mixed in as well. Texas vs Oklahoma has been a historical rivalry in sports over the last century, just never thought of it happening in the NBA. Who will survive this showdown, the veteran Mavs who look for redemption after their let down in the ’06 Finals or the upstart team of the future in OKC? We will find out as this series starts Tuesday night on ESPN.

Great show tonight at Junction, although with rainstorm ’11 blowing through town none of us had internet service. Gonz pulled it off by recording an audio podcast that will be up very soon we promise! Mo Bobb from Slam Magazine stopped by to talk NBA playoffs. Kadoma from HTSS came by as always to introduce the Premium Good and Sneak of The Week. Packed up after the show and Dj Gonz, The Andrew Martinez and I headed to see Gonz tear it up at The Lot with the KrackerNutz….

The Sneak Of The Week is the Reebok Classics Kamikaze by Swizz Beatz. Reebok is no stranger to pairing up with pop stars to deliver some iconic kicks; Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and Pharrell just to name a few. For their latest effort they team up with Super Producer, Rapper, and DJ, Swizz Beatz in attempts to capture an equally unique look in another brand new silhouette. While the design may be new, it also borrows some classic retro branding and the fan favorite Reebok Hexalite technology. The debut release will be limited to a total of only 84 pairs Worldwide with each sporting an autographed hang tag. The Reebok Classics Kamikaze by Swizz Beatz are scheduled to launch at only seven select locations in the US including Houston’s own Footaction in Greenspoint Mall on Friday, May 13th at noon (on a first come first served basis). Jim Crane will soon be the new Astros majority owner according to reports that are starting to trickle out.  Supposedly all that needs to be done is for i’s to be dotted and a few t’s crossed and the sale will be completed.  After that MLB owners will vote on whether to approve Crane as the new owner, something that should be a minor detail as Crane would not have made it this far in negotiations without their good approval.

Lakers center Andrew Bynum has been suspended for the first five games of next season for his flagrant foul on Dallas guard J.J. Barea in Los Angeles’ final playoff game.

The NBA announced the suspension Tuesday, two days after Bynum was ejected for the foul in the two-time defending champions’ 36-point loss to the Mavericks in Game 4.

The NBA also fined Bynum $25,000 for “removing his jersey and the manner in which he left the court.”

The infraction will cost him $702,272 overall, including the fine.

Bynum expressed remorse for his actions Tuesday, saying his actions were terrible and unacceptable.
